No place for Lambert in England squad.

Daily Echo: RICKIE LAMBERT RICKIE LAMBERT

I'm not really the suprised but it's a real shame he deserves a call up. At least he won't pick up an injury from that game

Ricky Lambert is not good enough, he is weak and he can never get a shot on target, he would be better off in League 2 playing for pompey next season.

This is not news, there needs to be an investigation as to why better players at smaller clubs are overlooked in favour of inferior players at the bigger clubs.

Roy Hodgson is the same as every England manager over the last umpteen years. Too scared to risk anything that might bring the papers or the FA down on him. Won't make any decision that might upset the Premier League Manager's Association or whatever that cabal is called, and certainly not adventurous enough to try anything different. It's a friendly ferchrissakes! Sadly, not just a muppet but a puppet too.

It's a really good job Hodgson has such an abundance of alternative English talent all freely scoring lots of goals and exhibiting the type of selfess commitment, dedication and skill that will inevitably win England a major trophy very soon.

I can vaguely remember Hodgson complaining about Chris Sutton not getting a call up when they were both at Blackburn in quite a similar situation. Seems he is a hypocrite without minerals.

And has anyone forgotten a certain Jason Puncheon? He has been our best player this season and has done much better than Osman, Cleverley or Chamberlain. He should be in the team to play out on the wing to link up with any of the four strikers which he would do well.

On the other hand, he won't get injured, so that is the pro for Saints fans.

You do wonder sometimes why England managers bother to go to games every weekend, they clearly don't take anything in and are so biased against anybody not playing for the 'big boys'.
Lescott, Smalling, Carrick, Cleverley, Milner, & Welbeck, - either not good enough or out of form.
Not just Rickie missing out is it though, what about Puncheon?
You do wonder sometimes why England managers bother to go to games every weekend, they clearly don't take anything in and are so biased against anybody not playing for the 'big boys'. Lescott, Smalling, Carrick, Cleverley, Milner, & Welbeck, - either not good enough or out of form. Not just Rickie missing out is it though, what about Puncheon? redduke

Let's face it Walcott and Ox wouldn't be playing for England had they stayed at saints. It's just the cliche mentality of all things football. Play fort Chelsea , Arsenal or Man U and you must be good.

MLT played all his years in the Prem - he'd be in any foreign countries national squad but playing for Saints - mmm wonder how good he is.

Well if Woy is going to carry on with the 'safe' options of playing guys who play for the teams at the top only then so be it.

In my book if you are good enough you are old enough and if you are in form - age is unimportant. Play your strongest side Woy. Might regret it one day in a penalty shoot out!!

I really don't care about England, I support Saints

Holt should have got a call last year, There are other midfielders than "steeeveee Gee" and "Lamps" but you will never see Britton get a call

Terry can shag his teamates misses and Cole can shoot trainee's but you can bet that if Clyne or Shaw make the mistake of staying at Saints and out of the papers they can expect to become one of the "could have beens"

so why is a second rate championship keeper in the squad..... just because he's come through their junior selection process - again a back room selection.. not on form or merit.. There are much better English Keepers that deserve better selectors!

The nation is obsessed by youth.

We've had the "golden generation" of players that where picked and played for England young and what did it achieve?
