Great football weekend for Le Tiss

Daily Echo: Matt Le Tissier Matt Le Tissier

MATT Le Tissier has taken to Twitter to congratulate the two main teams in his life for great results yesterday.

The Saints legend was first delighted to see that Guersney booked their place in the quarter finals of the FA Vase by beating Spalding United 3-1.

Then Le Tissier was further cheered by Saints’ incredible win over defending Premier League champions Manchester City.

Le Tissier tweeted: “Wow magnificent result/performances from both my teams today @SouthamptonFC @GuernseyFC #perfectsaturday #happyboy Le Tissier also retweeted a comment from former Manchester City chairman Francis Lee, the man who persuaded Alan Ball to quit as Saints manager to take over at Maine Road in the summer of 1995.

Lee wrote after Saints’ victory: “That's the worst performance I have seen from MCFC for years, utterly atrocious. Southampton much the better side & should have had a pen!”

Don't. You may not agree with his views but he is still a Saints legend and always will be. Also he happens to be a top bloke as does Franny.

It is not compulsory to take sides in this spat.

Once a Saint, always a Saint and that applies to a legend like Le Tiss. I just wish he and NC could truly bury the hatchet.

I was at the match yesterday and it was completely buzzing, the best display since the walloping of Spurs in the cup run of 2003, maybe even equalled the last two promo games at St Marys. I should probably be ashamed to admit that I have more pictures on display of LeGod than my own mother, but for Gods sake Matt, get your toys back in your pram, grow up and apologise to Mr Cortese. You are a Saints legend and always will be and kept the Saints in the top league for years, but on the flip side Cortese has taken us from the brink of extinction to the Premier league in 3 years through his choice of mangement and financial investment. I do agree that Nigel did an amazing job into getting us where we are now and I feel excluding him from the Everton programme and the fact that the Chairman was not present at the press conference appointing the new manger was WRONG.Other than that what is your problem with him?Benali is sueing club yet your ex team mate Doddy is in charge of the youth set up so it proves Cortese has no issues with past players. Please Matt go back to supporting the club rather than antagonising it. Please comment as my internet is fooked and it's taken ages to write thise same as time commuting from Cornwall for each game. Sorry to the car park guy last night who had to wait for us as the last people out !!!!

I saw an interesting link to a one-to-one interview with Matt which was in the Sun I think, about Southampton. Matt has obviously learnt to think before he speaks based on this interview as he was a lot more respectful to both Cortese and Pochettino. I think there's another article in the Indepedent as well.

I hope so as even LeGod must realise the fans are bigger than any single person (player, manager or chairman/directors).
Without the fans there wouldn't be a club.

Le God is a fan too, and never been bigger than the club, you do get this about 'your own' don't you?
My worry is about somebody else neglecting all of the fan-base -still work to be done.
