Saints striker Lee Barnard will have a huge chance to put himself in the shop window tonight, as he bids to help Oldham Athletic succeed in their latest FA Cup giant-killing attempt.
The relegation-threatened League One side will host Premier League high-fliers Everton in a televised fifth-round encounter this evening.
The Latics have already toppled Merseyside’s other goliath, Liverpool, in this season’s competition, shocking them three weeks ago at Boundary Park.
With out-of-favour St Mary’s forward Barnard having joined their ranks on loan since then, Oldham possess even greater firepower as they now aim their slingshot in the direction of David Moyes’ side.
They go into the match without a manager, after Paul Dickov left the club this month, but on the back of a confidence-boosting 3-1 victory against MK Dons, in which the forward grabbed the opener.
