STEVE MORAN, the former Reading, Southampton and England under-21 player, is holding a charity football match in aid of four charities close to his heart.

Together with the Reading FC Former Players Association, Steve is putting on a match between a Reading FC legends XI and a Southampton ‘Old Boys’ team at Basingstoke Town’s Camrose Ground on Sunday, April 21 (2pm kick-off).

For Southampton ‘Old Boys’: Matt Le Tissier, Jimmy Case, Jo Tessem, Rod Wallace, Ian Baird, Nicky Banger and Francis Benali.

Subject to availability, representing Reading FC will be: Mick Gooding, John Polston, Michael Gilkes, Kevin Watson, John Mackie, Ady Williams, John Salako, Martyn Williams, Simon Osborn.

The match will raise much needed funds for four charities very close to Steve’s heart - Connor Lancaster Trust, Martin House Hospice, Muscular Dystrophy Campaign and Action Duchenne.

The match will be played for the Steve Moran Charity Trophy and it is hoped that this fixture will be a yearly event.

Steve’s driving force in his charity appeal is his adopted son, Connor.

Connor was diagnosed at the age of three with ‘Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy’ (DMD). This ‘Duchenne’ type of MD is rare, devastatingly severe and only affects boys.

In 2012 Steve completed a 'Premiership Pedalathon' when he cycled around 26 football stadia, approximately 1,400miles in 21 days.

Entry into the game is by turnstiles on the day priced at adults £10, under-16’s/OAP’s £5.
