The Daily Echo brings you a round-up of the Saints-related transfer stories making the headlines in today's papers...

Ronald Koeman has enquired about an attacking midfielder who scored for Colombia in last summer’s World Cup, according to the Daily Mail.

Juan Quintero, just 21, can play in midfielder or on the left and has been linked with a loan move to St Mary’s.

Though Jay Rodriguez and Sadio Mane are currently injured – the latter has reported for African Cup of Nations duty for Senegal, however – Koeman still has new loanee Eljero Elia, Shane Long and Dusan Tadic to deploy in attacking midfield roles behind lone strike Graziano Pelle.

Quintero played three times for Colombia in last summer’s World Cup, scoring in a 2-1 qualifying group success against the Ivory Coast.

Meanwhile, Dundee have denied that Saints have bid for teen starlet Craig Wighton.

The Scottish press have played down reports south of the border that Saints have tabled a six-figure bid for the 17-year-old, who has also been linked with Arsenal.

Wighton, who has only made 20 league appearances for his club, has made seven appearances in the top flight this season, scoring once.

He was last month sent out on loan to Scottish Division 1 club Brechin City in a bid to get more first team football.
