Morgan Schneiderlin has reportedly completed a medical ahead of a £25m move to Manchester United.

The French midfielder has already been the subject of one failed £20m bid from United this summer but the Old Trafford have returned to match Saints' valuation.

He is expected to train with his new team-mates today.

There is a chance that the red tape could be completed in time for Schneiderlin to join his new team-mates on their pre-season trip to America, which departs on Monday afternoon.

Schneiderlin has expressed a desire to play Champions League football and Saints have said they will not stand in his way if their valuation is met.

However, an offer from Saints has remained on the table for Schneiderlin, which would make him the highest paid player in the history of the club.

The 25-year-old joined the club for £1.2m in 2008 and played a major role in helping them recover from relegation to League One to climb back to the Premier League.

Last summer, Southampton stopped Schneiderlin from leaving St Mary's in the wake of other high profile departures, with Tottenham bidding £10m, which was instantly dismissed by Saints.

He responded with a furious tweet about how the decision had 'ruined' the six previous years, but then went on to become one of the performers of the season.

Saints are lining up Jordi Clasie as a replacement for the Frenchman.
