SAINTS defender Florin Gardos has targeted a New Year comeback from injury.
The Romanian centre-back was ruled out for six or seven months in July after sustaining a serious knee injury.
The 26-year-old has now admitted on social media that he is optimistic of a “dream” comeback in January and his aspirations of a good 2016 at St Mary’s.
“Good news. I hope 2016 will be The Gardos Year. January is the month for comeback! I dream about that moment almost every night! #saintsfc,” he wrote on Twitter.
Gardos signed for Saints in the summer of 2014 and played 11 times last season after his move from Steaua Bucharest in a £6m deal.
Manager Ronald Koeman acted quickly in the summer transfer window to bring in cover for Gardos, with Steven Caulker and Virgil van Dijk both arriving to bolster the defensive ranks.
It means that Gardos’ task of getting back in the team will be made that much harder once he is fit again, with four other centre-backs ahead of him in the pecking order.
