SAINTS have been linked with Aston Villa left-back Jordan Amavi.
The 22 year-old Frenchman, who was introduced to senior football by Claude Puel at Nice, is reportedly a target for the new Saints boss.
Amavi is also known to Puel’s assistant Eric Black, Villa’s former first-team coach and caretaker boss.
A £7.7 buy from Nice last July, he made 11 appearances for Villa last season, his penultimate outing being a 2-1 Capital One Cup defeat at St Mary’s in October.
Amavi is pictured challenging Graziano Pelle for the ball before he was substituted after 64 minutes.
He suffered a knee injury while playing for France Under-21s in November and did not play for Villa's first team following Black's arrival in January.
Amavi has also been linked with Liverpool, Lyon and AC Milan.
