JAN Poortvliet was forced to admit his team aren’t as far on as he thought they were and accused them of too much individualism in a 4-1 defeat at Coventry.

Saints went into the game high on confidence after two wins in a matter of days but after a bright start things unravelled at the Ricoh Arena.

Poortvliet’s team now go into a two week international break with plenty to think about.

He said: “Every time we think we are further than this – I know where we are, I know what we have.

“Every time you hope because we have two wins in a row.

“It was a shame for the spirit because for two games we were really a team and then we saw more individuals than a team and that is maybe a thing with results.

“Now we feel down and it has nothing to do with quality or the way you play football but to do with mentality and that’s what we have to learn because we don’t have to be afraid.”
