Jan Poortlviet said he was proud of his players after their 2-1 defeat to Wolves.
Saints battled hard against the Championship leaders after being reduced to ten men just before half time when Jason Euell was shown a straight red card.
Saints didn’t fold and if anything outplayed the table toppers in the second half but came away from the match with nothing to show for their troubles.
He said: “We deserved more but I am still proud and we have to go on.
“We played a good game in general.”
Speaking of the red card incident he added: “I thought there was nothing really wrong but maybe I am wrong.
“For me it was nothing special because I saw also the moment Ollie Lancashire had to come off with an injury looked the same.
“I will have to see the replays so I cannot say. Maybe I’m wrong.”
