Jan Poortvliet was unhappy with the performance of referee Lee Mason during his side’s 2-1 defeat to Wolves.

Mason gave a series of contentious decisions which angered Poortvliet including: Sending off Jason Euell in the first half; Taking no action after a challenge that later forced Ollie Lancashire off through injury; Turning down a penalty appeal after David McGoldrick had gone down in the box late on.

Poortvliet did show plenty of restraint after the game, even if he was clearly not happy with the Premiership official.

He said: “A referee is the man who leads the game and you have to deal with that.

“Now we have to go on, and I’m not sure about it all having seen what I think were wrong decisions.”
