SAINTS could earn up to £500,000 from their third round FA Cup tie with Manchester United – with that possibly rising to about £1.5m if they force a replay.
The club will receive 45 per cent of the gate receipts from the clash at St Mary’s, on the first weekend in January.
Taking into account concessions and children’s tickets, Saints are thought to be working on the assumption the average price will be about £23.
With a sell-out, that would work out at about £330,000.
ITV and Setanta were due to announce yesterday which four games would be televised.
However, at the time of going to press, they had still not revealed their decision.
If Saints are picked for a live clash, they will receive a further £160,000.
Including extra add-ons, such as radio and television highlight fees, Saints could net half-a-million pounds from the tie.
The financial boon becomes even greater should Saints force a replay and go to Old Trafford.
With a 75,000 capacity and cup tickets costing as much as £46.98, according to United’s official website, a sell-out could net Saints nearly £1m.
Clubs featured in live televised third round replays receive £80,000.
There is also £75,000 on offer for reaching the fourth round.
