Saints fans could face an anxious few days yet as the takeover saga rumbles on.

Two groups remain deep in negotiations to try and seal a move for the club and both remain confident of doing a deal.

They are targeting completion before the end of the week but both sides concede that the amount of paperwork and legal issues to sort through could push a deal back to the start of next week.

Lawyers and officials involved in the deals have been working round the clock but there are a lot of elements to the moves, many of which are complicated and require signing off by third parties.

It is for that reason that the fear is starting to be raised that Saints fans may have to sweat on it over the weekend.

Despite worries to the contrary, Mark Fry is not believed to be ready to start winding up the club tomorrow if a deal is not completed.
