ALAN Pardew has hit out at Stern John for the manner in which he quit Saints.
The Trinidad & Tobago international this week turned down a new two-year deal at St Mary’s in favour of a move to Crystal Palace.
It leaves Pardew’s striking options looking desperately thin with Marek Saganowski and Grzegorz Rasiak still looking likely to leave.
Saints have received an offer for Rasiak from an unnamed club and are currently deciding how to proceed.
But John’s departure, after the striker had previously indicated he wanted to remain at Saints, has left a bitter taste for Pardew.
He said: “I was not best pleased if I’m honest.
“He kept making excuses about his agent and because of the loyalty I thought he had to Southampton and the character he had I assumed this was correct.
“I think he even mentioned that his agent had some family troubles.
“You think that everything is fine because he never asked us for more money, never implied there was a problem and then came to see me on Thursday I think and said he had an offer from the Championship and he was going to leave.
“My reply was “see you later.”
