Saints have signed Reading winger Michail Antonio on a month’s loan.
The 19-year-old pacy wide midfield man, who was recruited for Reading from non-league Tooting & Mitcham, will go into the squad for tomorrow night’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy match against Torquay.
Saints boss Alan Pardew has played down Antonio’s arrival, saying that he is coming to St Mary’s for them to have a look at rather than expected to be an immediate first team player.
He said: “I just thought it was a good opportunity because he wasn’t in the frame at Reading.
“It’s just a month to see how we all get on.
“There is no big fanfare about him and the fans shouldn’t expect too much and we’ll just see how we get on.”
He added: “He’s got fantastic pace and is an impact player and I’ve brought him here to have a look at him to see what he’s got to offer going forward.”
