Transfer window gossip for Southampton FC - January 2010

Saints transfer rumours round-up Saints transfer rumours round-up

THE JANUARY transfer window has shut - with no last minute signings for Saints.

Young defender Ollie Lancashire returned to Grimsby for a second loan spell, but as predicted Pardew made no further additions to his squad following Saturday's signing of Jason Puncheon.

Saints had a busy transfer window thus far, with gaffer Alan Pardew bringing in five new faces.

The English transfer window slammed shut at 5pm GMT, and was a quiet one nationwide with the majority of deals being loans.

It is still possible for deals to be announced, provided the paperwork made it to FA HQ by the 5pm deadline.

Clubs can still loan players, although Pardew has previously said he has no intention of bringing anyone else to St. Mary's.

Boy nothing like getting the news hot from the gossips on here!

I think Steven Darby at Liverpool is the RB we are looking to get in on a loan until the end of the season according to some of the pages I have read across t'nternet.

Some of the other speculative links for McSheffrey & Aaron Davies.

Thought diamonds mostly mined in South Africa...plenty of football going on out there in June...perhaps The Echo will have time to get someone out there to report on matches.
As for overseas players - after Skacel, Saganowski, Delgado et al I'd rather have the likes of Hammond, Lambert & Stock (British Bulldogs?)

Good on You Dan K.. we've been hunting rumours like crazy every day.. nice to have them in one spot and listed:

Saints scouts at the Reading v L/pool game are sussing:

U21 England International.
Stephen Darby 21yrs 6'1" RB loan from Liverpool until end of season.

Wayne Thomas to Plymouth with us paying half wages.

Steve Wigley is lined up for Football Director

Outs, Lancashre (Grimsby or Tranmere), Pulis (Lincoln or Morecambe), Holmes (Hartlepool or Millwall), Paterson (Loan to Hibs, Hearts, Millwall or Bournemouth), Mills (Loan to Scunthorpe). Saville (Released).

Pompey Bust transferred to non league... just love that video doing the rounds.

It's a bit of fun for us but make no bones about it for Nicola Cortese and Alan Pardew it's everything.. we can't just make the play offs we we intend to win the play offs and go up. Target two will be auto promo next season.

Promotion this year is an achievable target. Fans desperately need to unite in the loudest possible way. Slogan "Get Loud, Get hoarse for Saints"

If ever there were a need for the fan clubs to start a song and chant campaign printing chant sheets and asking fans to somehow find a way to get stuck in a support the cause it's now.

2 months of two games a week as Saints quest three roads to Wembley..

This is the absolute most exciting time in decades for Saints.. History in the making... times to rave about to your Grand Kids.

Bring it on. COYR

I heard from a reliable source that Southampton will sign Brian Stock from Doncaster for £2 million and possibly Simon Gillett (who is on loan there at the moment).

Also Neil Danns is set to join his old Palace team mate Jose Fonte at St.Marys. Apparently he was having a medical there 2 days ago but obviously not. Still should be signing though.

Elliot Ward from Coventry is still a target. He is out of contract at the end of the season so he should be fairly cheap (somewhere in the region of £500k to £1mil)

Rumours about Chris Lines joining from Bristol Rovers have quietened down lately but I still wouldn;t rule out a move before the end of the transfer window. Or possibly in the summer

Lee Barnard is similar. There were rumours. You would think though that with Southend performing at mid table and Southampton now loaded and on the rise he would want to be involved. He is also out of contract in 6 months.

I heard from another rumours website that Wes Hoolahan is being chased as well.

Nathan Delfouneso keeps being mentioned about a loan move until the end of the season

Dan K - thanks for compiling all the rumours together in one thread. I for one think it's handy!

Now then...Skysports.com on Southampton closing in on 22-year-old Exeter defender Dan Seaborne.
Out of contract in summer and rejected a new contract last year.
Norwich saw several offers rejected for him in last transfer window.

Sooooo... what do we think? I agree with Ross above. We need a RIGHT BACK badly. Plus, I don't remember an exciting performance from any of Exeter's defence on Boxing Day. Not excited.

I also heard that bit about Dan Seaborne, from my brother in law, he said it was in the Exeter Echo I remember him playing on Boxing day, I thought he was a bit rough in many respects, would not be my first choice of defender, mind you he is still young enough to mould, I suppose.

uk server has melted due to the number of players Southampton are signing, they currently are busy snapping up most of the Championship and League 1 out of or nearly out of contract players, and are creating a one team January transfer window. Luckily their local paper The Echo are keeping up with this force de jour and are helping out with their own server due to the bandwith usage. Great to be a Saint :))

Ah.........that messes up my link too Pericard.
6 goals in 16 matches, I thought that was a good return for a non front line striker?

ok here's my reaction and realistic view on the transfer rumours:-

BRIAN STOCK: (£1.7m + gillett swap) happy and a realistic, would be a great player in league one.
NEIL DANNS: (£800k) great player would shine and help us get promoted this year if not definitly next!
LEE BARNARD: (£1m) probably the bets striker we can buy in league, apart from beckford. would be a great partner with lambo up front.
CHRIS LINES: maybe would rather prefer N.D
VINCENT PERICARD: rather prefer L.B
ELLIOTT WARD: get him in now great player and would work well with jose.

we need: elliott ward, brian stock, neil danns and lee barnard.

but the only down side to this is if lee barnard signed he wouldnt be able to play in the jpt! d'oh!

Southampton are set to sign Leeds United Midfielder, Andy Robinson on a Free Transfer.
Fromer Swansea City Midfielder Robinson, has been a bit part player since his arrival and has requeseted a transfer away from the Yorkshire Club.
A Source close to the Club announced "Robbo has asked to leave, and Simon has agreed to it. At this stage of his career he wants to be playing games and Simon cannot guarantee that to him at the moment. Southampton and Tranmere have shown interest and I think his ideal move would be Southampton as they are a big club heading in the right direction".

Here's my thought as usual it seems we only get a little of the info from the Echo. Which is fine. I agree with Dan living in isolated canada means that I thrive off the reports on here.

And any info is better than none.

Perhaps Pards hasnt undervalued Barnard but the $150,000 includes Patts in trade. You never know. I think that would be good business as a starting point.

Patts is a prospect for the future and still scoring goals perhaps the eventual trade will be upwards of $400,000 and Patts but its a good start.

Because oh stupid one, when I go in a pub of an evening I am often accosted by somebody as daft as you who, having greeted me, asked after my health and exchanged ritual observations on the weather, says: “Did you read in the Echo about ...” And it is usually a load of spurious rubbish – most especially if it is about the Saints.
In fact most conversations about the Saints over the last six or seven years have proved to be a nightmare, because there are many people in this town who confuse the apparent significance of a story by the number of days the Echo keep it rolling, rather than the actual credibility - which is often minimal.
Having read the stories, read some of the reactions, I just have a compulsion to state the obvious (why not, you pay Echo hacks good money to do the same, and they aren’t half as good as most of the people who sound off on the threads).
And, with a bit of luck, when I go to the pub this evening somebody will have read this, come to the conclusion that it’s a waste of time raising the subject with me and discuss the weather in greater depth.
And, just for the record: you know what’s coming UTS: you don’t have to read my posts!

And remember: unlike me, the Echo is banned. And long may that ban stay in place. We really are better off without it.

A few updates to the rumour list today - mainly the signing of Barnard has made the acquisition of more strikers less likely, I've moved them to the "Not Likely" list.

Also been a few additions. As ever, anything you hear send let us know and we'll see if we think it has enough legs to be included.

I hope we have an agreed price for Antonio, if he keeps on developing at this pace by the end of the season he will be more than ready to step up. Raw talent just itching to play.
Credit to the scouts, we seem to be raising our standards with every signing.
I am sure that if Pardew deems it necessary to his tactics one or two may come in, he and Ray will have a very good idea of just who is capable of playing where and when.

Southampton are set to announce the signing of Midfielder Theo Janssen on loan from FC Twente. Janssen, 28, was involved in a drink drive incident in November 2009, which caused FC Twente to take immediate action and suspend his contract with the Club until January 2010.

FC Twente president Joop Munsterman said at the time : "It is unacceptable for a professional footballer to drive in such a state. He put his own life in danger and that of others. A footballer must be aware that he is a model for the youth."

Theo Janssen added: "I was extremely stupid. I drank to celebrate victory. I will never drink and drive again, I have damaged the reputation of the club and football. I am willing to do anything to repair the damage."

Janssen is expected to join Southampton on loan until the end of the season. It is believed that Marek Saganowski will be heading in the opposite direction as part of the deal.

Agreed, but I suspect that the Administrator will have put a value on him, balancing short term injection of cash, against selling the club, with a team capable of staying in the Championship. If AP has been given a finite budget, that value may exceed his budget given what he has already spent. I watched the highlights of Falkirk v Motherwell. Scott Arfield looked a real box to box player, with a touch of class, but would he cost more than AP may have left to spend? I think Danns or Arfield would have been I better option than Puncheon, but like any poster I am unaware of what information is not put in the public domain. So I don't offer that as a criticism of AP, unlike some other posters.

I'm not getting hopes up for another. Pards already pointed out the Punch can play Central Mid.. the lad is a creator and may well get the chance.

We have two smashing goalies
a good solid selection across the back four with choices for hack teams or passing teams.
The Front mid has variety with power, width and pace. Still no dominator/boss to help Deano but give Jason Puncheon a chance to show how he can beat players and create.. remembering that we now without doubt Jose will be backing up and lifting performances from all behind so the central mid can do their job.
Up front: what can we say except Rickie, Barney, Connors, Papa - cor!
46 league goals this season +15
can we double it?

I believe we are in the top six best team in this league but have let ourselves down at time.. banana skins, call it what you like but there are no chances left.

Bless this week of training to gice Pards Wilkie and Wally the chance to sort the first team out.

Exeter is a must win, then two cup games to bed in new players. Pards will know the fans will want the scalp of Pompey like nothing on Earth.. beat them well and he's a Saints hero for life! But we still have roads to Wembley and a few months of blissful football non of us ever thought possible.

Good News,
I've actually managed to get 3 tickets for Exeter away on Saturday after a right load of hassle
I had to write to Saints and apply and tell them that I've been to more than 3 away games this season
They've just phoned to to take card payment
We've only been allocated 800 because the old bill had a nightmare when 3000+ Leeds went down there
No trouble but segregating the fans was a problem
so we get stitched up with a measly 800
Anyone else had the same hassle or also got tickets yet?

Given that Saints have signed several players, but only Matt and Saga have left, how much can Saints pay in wages that won't take them over the 75% threshold? Whilst Saints may be able to afford to buy Danns, the wage he would expect to receive and Saints willing to pay, might take the wage bill over the limit.

Please let's get all our "best" players back for next week...not sure to risk them for 90 mins on Tuesday - but match fitness could be an issue if they don't get a run out!
Who have we got on Tuesday
Clue is next week - Tuesday...MK Dons 2nd leg JPT - at least I hope so or I'm in bother!
I thought we had a game this tuesday??
Thought we had a week off this week - hence the Christmas party in Brighton for the players over the weekend? Still there's always live football on ITV Tuesday and Wednesday night...poor old Harry getting dumped out the Cup by Leeds - and Palace losing to Wolves after we obtain one of their best players
I think you must be right then...oh well look forward to Exeter away on Saturday then

I have just heard that there is to be a special show of BBC 1's 'Cash in the attic' live from Fratton Park 2moro! They hope to find enough memorabilia/football
s etc to be able to raise the funds needed to pay the players wages. Also Al-Faraj to star on the next episode of 'Who do you think you are'. You heard it here first.

Doubt it - the money from selling Kaboul should keep them afloat for another couple of weeks, I'd have thought. What happens when that goes is anyone's guess.
The go under, plain and simple. if they have wages of around 1.4-1.8m per month, they have 2 home games this month which after a sloppy bit of maths, will net them less than a million pounds after overheads (which they dont seem to pay)so do the maths there, it just doesnt add up and there is a massive defecit. I think we'll see Poopey in admin by the end of the week, out of business by the end of the month.

Even worse for them, as your figures assume that everyone pays for a ticket, but 12000 of each gate is covered by season tickets, and they have already had and lost that money.
I honestly think that by the time we play them they will be in either Admin, or have been wound up.

A little off topic but has anyone else noticed you can buy tickets for the P*mpey game regardless of whether you are a season ticket holder now on the online ticket section of the main website. How has no one picked this up. As for the signings... we have too many already. This is like Pre-season number 3 already.

You might find that it won't actually let you complete the purchase. Last week I was able to add 3 tickets to my basket for the JPT 2nd leg even tho there was a maximum of 1 ticket per person at this time. It wasn't until I actually entered my card details and clicked submit that it told me I wasn't allowed to order that many. Maybe a similar setup with the poopey game (but I haven't tried so don't hold be to it)

Well I have a season ticket and it let me buy 2 more. I didn't and have to admit I did not go to the purchase section. Folk I know who are not season ticket holders have bought tickets no problems. The other problem they might have is that their security firm has finally had enough of not getting paid and has upped sticks and left. So how they're going to stage home games without security remains to be seen.

I still think it'll be the cost of paying their share of the police bill from the cup game with us that will finally drag them under.

Nosworthy set to Join Sheff utd after turning Pompey down. That is a
right slap for the skat.perhaps the guy wants to get paid. Sensible fella.
Tic tock tic tock the day draws closer to their crucial hearing and they do not have enough money to pay the tax man, they do not have the money to pay the Russian the next instalment of their loan. Will they even be able to pay their players.Tescos the only likely buyer and skatmuff having to share Waterloovilles ground in the conference.
The thing is by delaying administration, they are now in a situation where the window closes they have no chance of selling players. If they had gone into admin now the administrators would have sold players off to keep them afloat till the end of the season.
The rumours are that a photo of the ground will be placed in the Mary Rose museum with all the other old defunct wrecks.
In truth i do not wish that fate even on them, but it looks more and more likely. Strange the difference a year makes. Seeing them start in div 2 would be enough, after the fact they found our demise so hilarious.

Administrators would only offload a loan deal if he was on really high wages. When you consider that he probably isnt to lose him now for no money and save about £6K a week is not worth the damage to the team. A CCC team is easier to sell than a League One outfit so goes without saying that Tevez888 is probably posting with wishful thinking rather than the awesome "inside knowledge" we all hope he has. Come on people. We have got the players in we need. Hammond to come back is all we need in midfield.

Remember a signing is a TWO WAY THING!! Danns will have to want to come to us and it is a drop in leagues for him. We are not guaranteed promotion this season so he may want to continue to play in the Championship. Stop assuming just cos we have money that we can buy anyone we want. We know Saints put in an offer and discussed terms. If they weren't agreed then it could as much be to do with Danns as with Saints. Stop being such a misery all the time!

Come on people. We have got the players in we need. Hammond to come back is all we need in midfield.
we have not though mate.our centre mids rarley get goals.we needed a danns style player.puncheon is o.k but is a winger which pards will most likely play out of position.barnard and lambo should not play together.they are too slow.we needed pace.ostemebor was a mistake.i dont think this window has been that great.fonte was quality signing though.
Do our centre mids need to continually score though Jed's? Our front four are more than capable of taking care of that, with the MF and DF chipping in now and again, also Puncheon sits behind the stikers in a sweeping role and provides, and can score himself. Agreed Danns would have been a good signing, but not going to lose sleep over it. And yeah Fonte looks fookin solid, so AP gets it right sometimes ;)

Dean hammond is a far better player than most realised. everyone was clammerinig for another MF, but im sure with puncheon alongside hammond the blend will be bang on.
The defence is looking sound with fonte . My only reservation is that lambo is very similar to barnard, but papa brings pace and unpredictability to the party. I am so happy that he has proved a lot of the doubters wrong-Quality.When you weigh it up-Ap has grabbed all the best players available, who were prepared to drop to Div 1.Cant ask any more.

I think that AP wanted a player similar to Lambert, he said he needs to rest him. If we had a player too disimilar we would have to change the system. Its difficult enough at the moment effectively having a Cup Defence and a League Defence. don't think many people have denied how good Hammond is, but we're going to end up playing the most games in the division this year due to cup commitments (maybe just less than leeds) so we need cover. If Hammond gets injured again, then it will be an area for concern.

Oh well get over it.
There is always a reason why things don't happen the way we want.
Danns might have been a right flash centre of attention player who may have disrupted harmony amongst the players we already have.
Only time will tell on this one, still may happen with regards to a loan.

Looks like one poster stands out in the 1%

The window showed that players of the calibre of Fonte are prepared to put their careers on the line to say Saints and Alan Pardew are their fastest ticket to the Premiership.

Most of the top players in the squad say it regularly. They want to play and learn under Alan Pardew and know Saints is upwardly mobile.

No way would Wilky or Wally Downes work with someone who wasn't competent -they can have/have had clubs of their own.

That says it all for me Nicola Cortese has us on Track with the right people.

We now have two teams within the squad capable of interchanging to get us through the busy part of the season.

15 wins and a few draws - Wembley
Do the Dons - Wembley
Do Pompey - Heavenly road to Wembley

I was a bit surprised at signing Puncheon – we have lots of wide players and I don’t think he will play in midfield in a 442. He could play just off a lone striker – but Lallanna does that job well.

Daft, however, for some to say that AP should have signed Danns instead of Puncheon/ Otsemobor – it takes three to tango – Saints, Palace and Danns. There is no evidence that it was either/or. If, as is reported, the Palace Administrator is keener to get the wages bill down rather than receive a transfer fee, it is certainly possible that a loan deal for Danns until the end of the season could still be on. You can certainly imagine Danns not wanting to commit to a transfer which could very well involve his dropping down a division for next season as well as this. I hope so as an additional attacking midfielder is the one remaining piece in the jigsaw.

It is also of course just rank stupidity to be criticising new players already. I too am not sure about Otsemobor but let’s wait and see how he does. One of the things I liked about Pardew from the start was his signing specialised defenders – real full backs rather than the converted wingers and midfielders we have had for over three years; and good tall centre halves who can head the ball. Otsemobor is only the second real right back we have. I prefer Thomas to James in that position but neither are real full backs. And Thomas is getting on a bit and accident prone, as of course is Murty.

Up until this Window, every single player that Pardew has brought in has improved the team, without exception. Those questioning his record have no basis in fact for their argument.

The team were very poor on Saturday in the first half – in fact they only really stepped up a gear when Waigo came on. His joining up play was excellent and he created a threat in all parts of the pitch. He certainly outshone Barnard and surely is entitled to expect a run up front in a 442 – but I guess AP will have to keep faith with Barnard so as not to dent his confidence – an essential quality in a striker and he has missed a few good chances so is probably feeling a bit fragile.

We just hoofed the ball in the first half, especially Mills and Wotton and even the centre halves who were otherwise very good. We played like a team of strangers, perhaps not surprising given the (too many?) changes. Schneiderlin was the only quality in midfield and linked beautifully with Waigo.

I am really surprised we got as many as five new players in given the evident difficulty in selling on from an already bloated squad. Surely more will follow Lancashire out on Loan.

Thanks Dan for explaining to the narrow minded and quick fix people. You are dead right people like Fonte would not join us if they themselves didn't think it was possible to play at the highest level. Went to Brentford last week and great to be in with the away crowd for the first time in years, chatted all 2nd half to a die hard from the Kingsland who saw the same game as me. The new culture has not filted through to SMS not even after 7 home wins on the spin last sat,the exception was the Exeter game where the atmos was awesome. I find it quite amusing, two foul mouthed Wum's come on here, all over it like a rash and think that they could manage Saints, infinitely better than the present manager, posters start to think that we are not as good as what we are, if the Wum's were to be listened to, we would be in the same position as Pompey, broke and the victims of ridicule.
Where were these posters last season, when things were really bad, what with the Dutch experiment and all.
The present coaching team did not come together until after the season had started, do these Wum's believe they could do better? reading their post's they obviously believe they could. my opinion is that they could not.

Truth be told i'm rather chuffed we did not sign anymore, Alan P said we would not, and we did not. he is as good as his word, he said we needed to strenghten up the back, and get a repalacement for mellis. What a treat to get lee thrown into the mix as well, some people on here belive money grows on trees, just because we have a very rich owner does not mean he has to spend all his money. I'm so greatfull for him to come in and save our arses. just look at the shambles down the road, can't even afford to pay the caterers LOL!
I now belive we will push ourselves up the league, with a settled team, it seems that when we are wheelin and dealing we don't seem ourselves. I think that once deano is fit and well we will begin to dominate this league. COYR!!! please bag us three points on sat.

I happen to be in the "Pro-AP" brigade, but simply because I am seeing Saints on the up. We can all speculate on who we would prefer to have had at the helm, but he is the man we have now...surely even the AP critics wouldn't dare call for a new manager as we continue to progress....surely?

Thought I'd have a go at posting about the thread and my thoughts. AP has signed 5 permanent signings 3 defenders, one midfielder and a striker. On Neil Danns I don’t see any other L1 teams buying the best the championship have to offer, we are very lucky indeed we put a bid in for the player and he didn’t come lets get over it. Now on to our actual new players. Fonte is the best defender we have seen at this club for donkeys he is the Rio Ferdinand of L1 and he oozes composure a great signing. Seaborne is a young lad with a lot of talent he can play it out from the back and I think he is a no nonsense defender. Ostemebor is a decent right back lacks a bit of concentration but what Saints player hasn’t he will do a good job for the 6 months he is here for. When Murty is fit semi won't play but he will play all the league games to let Thomas rest and to help against the pacey wingers in this division. Puncheon we haven't seen him play yet but what we have seen he's good on the ball dribbles a lot and when he scores they are usually screamers can be used as a winger or in a midfield 3 just like Mellis could. Barnard well everyone was raving about him saying lets get him and that if AP didn't he would be stupid, now that he has done just that some people are moaning about him, he has only played 3 games has missed a couple of chances due to snatching at them but once he settles I’m sure he will do fine and plays very well I think in a 4-5-1 anyway you never know he might just pop up with a goal against pompey and become a LEGEND. Can't argue with that Solentsaint! Murty is still a massive loss and when fit I think we will have a full classy L1 outfit. For me the jury on Ostemebor is still out....the Norwich fans didn't seem too disappointed to see him leave. He no doubt has talent, but I think he will need some coaching on work rate and concentration. Before the window our defence was pretty poor...Fonte has made an immediate impression. We all know Barnard has what it takes in this league but if he mis-fires, we have super sub Wiago to get things going! Tough game on Saturday...must win if the play-off dream is to be kept alive. Probably not. I left one too but heard nothing. Hes supposed to be studying evening classes for his music making hobby. Too settled to make the move south so the palace fans say but would love to know why he didn't sign. Any ideas?
no idea really but my guess is wages,he's a CCC player and we're bound by a wage cap, puncheon will do as good a job imo.

If everyone just ignores the so called Portuguese tw*t we can all get back to talking football and hopefully they won't shut this forum down. For us that live outside Hants it's a lifeline.

As someone who has a relative in a wheelchair I find you completely disgusting. Do you think anyone finds you remotely funny. Is this how you try and big yourself up, because you are some sad little pr1ck. Whats black & blue? Answer you, if I ever lay eyes on you
Way, way too nasty "pubes". Hope the Echo picks it up and bans you. And to think people like you have the gall to accuse Pompey fans of being ignorant, mindless etc etc. Proof, if ever it were needed, that all clubs attract such people and we shouldn't get too high and mighty about Portsmouth.
billy 3 baps you are an inbred skate f*ck.i dont care what you think.you have no sense of humour.if i was in a wheelchair i would find that funny.your a p.c bore.go screw yourself mate.beat me black and blue?i doubt it very much you skate.and f fan.........mr no sense of humour.mug
Living in Woodmill the Station Pub is just round the corner from you in Bullar Road. I'm sure you know it, I'm there next Tuesday night before the MK Dons game standing by the main door at 6. You little cyber warrior. You've just played hard man with the wrong bloke sunshine. So I'll see there its a date, ask for Paddy
Ditto, only worry is that they wont let silly little 12 year olds in. Others there as well Matallica Man, or is it German Dog. What you going to be next time you get banned. Come and tell us all to our face what you think of us. Also, noticed neither you or the Devon thing took on Invidia earlier
oh now look whos chimed in.old man gozzie.german dog????W.T.F?keep taking your pills mate, get with the times.im from portuguese decent not germany you idiot. any one who dares go against the grain is a skate with you.if they ban me billys going down and e m27 for his racist remarks i reported.
You have had the gall to report someone. You are the most offensive person on this site, you and your alter ego.
You comments are childish to the extreme, and you have again single handedly ruined this facility which so many of us enjoy.
Thank you

Most of the top players in the squad say it regularly. They want to play and learn under Alan Pardew and know Saints is upwardly mobile. No way would Wilky or Wally Downes work with someone who wasn't competent -they can have/have had clubs of their own. That says it all for me Nicola Cortese has us on Track with the right people. We now have two teams within the squad capable of interchanging to get us through the busy part of the season. 15 wins and a few draws - Wembley Do the Dons - Wembley Do Pompey - Heavenly road to Wembley Southampton Home Fans... you are too quiet... get behind the team... stop the excuses and get the chants going from the second they come out to the final whistle... don't let the silly wimpers and cat callers rule BOSS your own Ground Loud and Proud GET HOARSE FOR SAINTS please make Merrington shout to be heard in his box.... let the enemy fear St Mary's Roar. COYS COYS
Having watched Saints for over 35 years this is the new dawn we have been waiting for folks and AP will take us to the promised land again.
For jesus christs sake stop being so fux@king patronizing saint h you coc*muncher.we are all entiltled to a debate.
Get a life will you,you think you are soooo clever with your crass comments and insults on here when we are trying to have a constructive conservation or two. As Clint Eastwood said "opinions are like arseoles........than

kfully you,ve admitted to being one!! Maybe you should support Man Chitey if you want instant success!!!!
In forum debates the idea is to post reasoned arguments in a stimulating conversation thread. We don't have to blindly agree, I certainly don't but enjoy hearing all the arguments.

When one starts insulting, abusing in public threads without stating any real contribution it's time for them to go.

Mr/Miss/Mrs 1% has said Pardew is hopeless... fair enough.. should of got Danns.... fair enough. .. Dann's turned us down - end of argument there. Hates Pardews ability, prefers Davies.. not a bad base for debate but rudely stated. Lose the kinky girl handle, stop the obscene abuse ans we'd be quite happy to debate with mr/miss/mrs 1%

As far as Pards in concerned back in July I think pretty much everyone (except 1%) agreed to give him a rating after Xmas, some said they call for a director of sport if we were still in the relegation zone.

I'll Pards 10/10 for building the club from the scouts to the coaching staff. A solid 9/10 for PR... speaks well, concise and to the point when pert. Then 8/10 for the magnificent squad he's building and 7/10 for pure football results but fully expect that to improve mightily and believe it's the few players that haven't really shown us their metal that have let the results down a bit.

What do we think of the window... I think looking back through it I rapt to where we are.

Keep it up Pards... Up The Saints.

Looks like Danns didn't want to come here.
Wonder if Pube boy will ever conceive that may be true. Someone has rejected HIS club.
Probably why he was in such a childish mood last night.
Oh well now all the fuss is over wonder if we can get back to football and our mammoth task of climbing the League , beating the Skates and winning the JPT.
And at the risk of sounding too positive...COYR..
Oh and i drink in A PUB somewhere if you want to come and have a go ;-p

I can't believe I have actually managed to read all of that rubbish only to find out Danns didn't sign!
I'm with whoever it was who asked for normal service to be resumed and less jesticulating on who is harder than who...it was like a school playground on here last night by the look of it!
I'll be down for the JPT and Pompey games - call me a glory hunter, but I won't be looking to "do" a Pompey fan over...I feel some compassion for the poor b*stards! I'm forgiving that they wanted us to go t*ts up, because I'm a Saints fan and endorse the football family.
Mind you if they start I will try to act as mediator until the first signs of trouble...then I'm offski.
Banter, rivalry call it what you like - even menace - it makes for a great atmosphere...however what usually follows is unacceptable. Even when they won at Nottarfkrap they rioted...so what chance do we stand at SMS this time around?
It's not even a big boys day out is it? Still I'll be there in the Itchen North Block 3, cheering and jeering.
I really believe we will get another last minute winner, just like the last 2 FA Cup games...Moran (1984), Crouch (2005) & ??????? (2010). Could be Lambert - but I think Barnard will become a hero with his first goal for the club!
Southampton FC - Pride of all Hampshire!
