Goalkeeper Bart wants to stay a Saint

Bartosz Bialkowski Bartosz Bialkowski

BARTOSZ Bialkowski is confident of signing a new deal at Saints within the next few weeks.

The Polish keeper’s current contract at St Mary’s expires this summer.

Saints have offered the 22-year-old a new deal, but he has yet to agree it.

Bialkowski is currently in his native Poland but is returning next week for the start of pre-season.

The Daily Echo understands that there has been interest in him from the German Bundesliga.

But Bialkowski is in no doubt that he wants to remain a Saint.

He is hoping everything will be agreed when he returns.

“I will be back at Southampton for the start of the season and I am hoping to stay with them,” he said.

“They have offered me a contract and I will be coming back to England to hopefully sign and stay.

Full story is only in today's Daily Echo

I have to say, he has been here sooo long I had not realised he is just 22!

He is a great keeper and I hope he gets some chances this year.

He is going to be a top quality keeper in years to come.

Good news. It's essential but difficult to keep a good second goalkeeper. It must be very hard knowing you could do a great job but may never get a decent run of games. Luckily goalkeepers are slightly bonkers anyway.

Given the few chances Bart has had, especially being number two to Kelvin, it's nice to see a player put loyalty at the top of his agenda. Like a previous post stated, Bart seems to have been a Saint for so long now, it's hard to believe he's only 22. When you take into account the desire of players at that age to being playing first team football somewhere, then his stated intention to remain is even more impressive.

Had it not been for that injury he sustained against Newcastle we may have not have had to have signed Kelvin Davis in the first place.

A very good young keeper, did very well as a 18 year old. Probably Kelvins last year, so Bart should be ready to take us through the Championship back to the Prem.
Stick with us Bart, not long before we are back where we belong

Well the story above, about him wanting to stay at Saints has come direct from Bialkowski himself - hence the direct quotes from him saying explicitly that he has been offered a contract and intends to stay.
If the story is wrong, then the player himself must be wrong as well.

An outstanding prospect, who at 22 has the chance, like Morgan to move through the divisions with Saints. A sensible decision indicates that he has the right character too. Lets hope that he takes full advantage of any chances he is given this season.

Every page on Wikipedia has a "history" tab so you can see exactly who has made edits to the page.

Even though he has been in the shadow of "Super-Kelv", Bart has been a class act. Without his trio of penalty saves against Norwich, we would not have had our fabulous day at Wembley. He is a class act, a charming young man, and will be a worthy successor to Kelvin.

Haven't heard a rumour, just a thought, would anyone like to see Sol Campbell at St. Mary's? He's available, exceptionally experienced and would firm up our defence.

No doubt people would say not an ex skate etc or about his (alleged) sexuality?

I'm talking about getting an available ex-international who's available for nothing?

I think we should bid for him.

You are talking absolute rubbish, I love the stupidity of saying he is signing for a portugeezer club yet you self admit you cannot read the article as you dont speak Portugeezer!

He has quoted that he is happy with the Saints deal. Also another weak snipe at the Echo from a bit reader.

Great scoop Echo

Unfortunately he's developed a bad rep for walking out, not earning his inflated wages and not really playing a lot of anything.. no place at Saints.

We apparently have a new cordon bleu caterer so he's not wanted in the kitchen either. Looking forward to pie reviews and pics :p

According to transfer rumours website

Southampton announcements on Monday:
Greg Halford – Wolves – signed undisclosed
Neil Danns – palace – signed 1.2m

Lee Holmes – Southend 100k

Think the holmes rumour is most likely garbage since southend cant afford to pay thier own staff. I would be pleased with Halford and Danns though - could def do a turn in league 1.

Pawel Kieszek, goalkeeper of the tables of SC Braga, must fill the vacancy by Nuno Espirito Santo in Porto. The news was advanced by the Straits Times, in the late afternoon of Wednesday, and know Maisfutebol, is unfounded. At 26, the Polish keeper has bridge to the Dragon.

SC Braga prepares to renew the pool of goalkeepers. Eduardo is the target of intense harassment from abroad and Quim (ex-Benfica) is already ensured their place. Kieszek expressed its willingness to embrace a new challenge and must be replaced by a fellow countryman: Bartosz Bialkowski, who was at Southampton.

This fact opened the way for talks between FC Porto and SC Braga, with the dragons to express interest in having a shot at goalkeeper League (Kieszek made excellent views in V. Setúbal in 2008/09), serving as an alternative to Helton and Bob.

Thats a google translation, pick the bones out if it, coz its a bit grammatically incorrect, but basically its only a rumour and if Bart's stated he wants to stay and fight for his place, i'm more inclined to believe him.

But he definitely hasn't signed for anyone else yet, how old is Davis? He might want to move on for a final payday before he calls it a day, most goalkeepers tend to do that these days.

Elgy says...
3:09pm Fri 25 Jun 10

If/when Bartosz does leave, I will never shut up about it. And that's a warning.

don't believe it I'm afraid, I got bored and had a play.. however the idea isn;t stupid and there have been no real rumours to the contrary. The rumour site has been carrying those silly Rickie to transfer stories again...laugh so I could help having a go.. as I think the lad that runs it is a Palace fan. The next thing was their silly diatribe again NZ players..

If anyone has any honest rumours for goodness sake email them to Dan Kerrins or pop them in here.

If he does go, we have a very good Southampton born keeper living in the city who is also a fan and is just coming out of contract with Crystal Palace Darryl Flahavan. He was outstanding when on loan at Oldham against at as St Mary’s he was also league one player of the year 3 years ago and has good Championship and League one experience when he was at Southend, we could get he on a free and he would do a great job for us.

Quite agree: he impressed me when he was at Southend, in a weak defence. (I would also put in a plug for one Tony Allen, aged 18, living near me in Hythe, Kent, and a Saints fan, who is top class for his age, calm and athletic and getting a trial for Stoke, who would do us proud)

Also might be worth giving a trial to my 10 year old brother, he's a saints fan too and is much taller than the other lads.

He was on the books with Saints for 2 years 1996-8 and did not make the grade. He was released and went to play non-league for Woking
