SAINTS have won their battle with Shrewsbury over ticket prices for the first round FA Cup match between the clubs.

Seats will be sold at a reduced price for the game at St Mary's, on Saturday, November 6, despite the visitors wanting to charge the maximum amount - about £25 for a top end ticket.

Saints were keen to make the match more affordable, with club officials concerned that the attendance would suffer badly if it cost too much for supporters.

They have accused the League Two outfit of wanting "only to line their pockets".

With the two sides unable to agree on a compromise, the case was passed to the FA for arbitration.

They have ruled in favour of Saints, pricing tickets at £5 for kids, £10 for young adults/OAPs, and £15 for adults.

A statement on Saints' website said: "Bearing in mind the opposition, and the number of other significant home matches during November, the club had wished to push through discounted rates for this match, in order to reward our most loyal fans.

"However, our opponents from League Two were looking to cash in on their trip to St Mary's by charging both sets of fans full price tickets, an over ambitious move designed only to line their pockets.

"As no compromise was able to be reached, the matter was handed to the FA, and the Club are pleased to announce that they have sided with Saints."
