Saints take promotion party to Vegas

Saints set to hit Las Vegas Saints set to hit Las Vegas

SAINTS’ promotion-winning heroes are being treated to a major end-of-season celebration – in Las Vegas.

The players will mark the club’s return to the Championship with a visit to the ‘Entertainment Capital of the World’ over the weekend.

And they will already feel like they have hit the jackpot, after Saints chairman Nicola Cortese agreed to pay for the trip.

The first-team squad is due to fly out tomorrow and will spend a few days enjoying the bright lights of the famous American city and its legendary Strip of hotels and casinos.

They are set to return overnight on Monday.

The jaunt, which is for the players only, promises to be a memorable way to cap an incredible week of celebrations.

The squad and coaches revelled with supporters at St Mary’s after Saturday’s 3-1 win over Walsall, which confirmed their ticket out of League One.

They then spent the night partying with the club’s staff at a special do in the city’s Grand Café bar and restaurant.

And that was followed by yesterday evening’s end-of-season awards dinner at the stadium.

Cortese is understood to have agreed to foot the bill for Vegas during the jubilant celebrations on the coach journey back from Plymouth earlier this month – much to the players’ delight.

The 3-1 win at Home Park just under two weeks ago effectively ensured Saints would finish second in League One.

It is not clear whether Cortese will pay the travel and accommodation costs personally, or with club funds.

But it is some reward for the players who have earned Saints their status as a Championship outfit once again, two years after being relegated to the third tier.

A few days in Vegas should add to the already strong team spirit. well done lads you fully deserve it. As the old saying goes: Work hard, play hard!

On a separate note. I wonder where the pre-season tour will be this year?. Rather selfishly, I'm hoping NC brings them back to Switzerland (in the hope that FC Basel can get a game against them). However, after Pardews post-Switzerland shaky start last year, maybe Nicola will decide to keep the team at home this time

Ditto this comment, the players have done their part and are rightly being rewarded (whilst also being paiod hansome wages may i add) something for fans next season would be nice, reduced admissions to some home games to somewhere along the lines of £10 or maybe a buy 1 ticket get the next home game free a couple of times. Just a thought, we spent our hard earned cash following this team but arent always lucky enough to be rewarded with trips to Vegas!!

Thankyou for a fantastic season

Keep the season ticket prices the same would go a long way to keeping the momentum of the promotion going

I dont think the fans would expect free admision to games next season. I feel i had good value for my season ticket and cant wait to renew for next season. I also attended away games where i also got value for money.
I would not expect free tickets from say, THE MAYFLOWER THEATRE , after attending a certain number of shows.
The boys are only getting a bonus for all the hard work they have put in this year, like i dare say many readers of this paper get in their employment when they do well.
NICOLA CORTESE is only rewarding hard work and i say well done to the man. In N. C. i trust , he is running our club in the finest manner posible.
Well done boys under NIGEL'S wing youv'e started to fly.

I thought NC organised the 'Saints Day' event for the fans (with free tickets)...

Saints fans always want more tho don't we!

Keeping season tickets the same price would be great too! ;-)

Plus if there are free tickets given away where do the season ticket holders stand? What do we get from this? Hmm

NC is also a businessman and knows that motivating the squad with this kind of generosity will keep the feel good factor amongst the players and want them to all be here next season and part of another promotion push! Players like Alex will enjoy this and know he wouldn't be getting that sort of treatment playing reserve team football in the Premierleague.

The players deserve this and it makes Adkins job easier keeping the Saints train moving forward! I wonder where Brighton took their players...the end of the Pier?

Well done to the whole squad, management and support staff. Not sure if you're all going, although we regularly hear you're all part of one big team.
As for giving free tickets, seriously? I'm not always a fan of NC but at the end of the day this is still a business, and needs to make money. I wonder how many of the 31000+ that were at St Marys for the final game will start going week in week out next year? And before you ask, I'm not a season ticket holder but I've gone to every game my shift pattern has allowed, including several away games.
If you want to see saints successful, spend money, sing when we are winning or losing, and get behind our now great again club!

Enjoy Vegas guys, then come back and win us the Championship!!

This makes more sense than the Swiss trip, the players seemed to come back overweight and lethargic anyway. At least it they go to Vegas they will have some surefire downtime and then move on to a structured pre-season. With regards to free tickets, it’s a bit of a cheek IMO. We support Saints not visa-versa, the football club exists and thrives because we part with our money, if we stop doing that it will cease to thrive and we wont have great days like at Plymouth and at Home to Walsall.

With our luck I can see super kelv in LA ,rolling the dice and clearing up,what a great bunch of players ,if I could be there I would stomp up the bar bill.
In all honesty do we all realise what weve got here ? I have to pinch myself, saints is the only brand on the south coast now worth talking about, thanks NC NA and the squad and more importantly the rank and file that make up the red and white army.

This is exactly what they deserve !!!

Lots more Celebrating to do this time next year with promotion to the PREMIERSHIP - the fans demand a return to the Top Flight...sooner rather than later ....

Regarding mummsie's post - well you may be on to something ... a couple of vouchers in the back of the Season Ticket Book to assist with AWAY GAMES (especially up NORTH) wouldn't go amiss.

Starting tomorrow Storrieteller & MM in Court 7 - "For Mention" (usually to fix a date for trial or agree outstanding issues. They can sometimes lead to a change of plea).

I guess it must be only me then - what is it about Vegas? It just doesn't appeal to me all those bright lights, gambling dens, show girls and booze!
I remember the stick Moran and Wright got in '84 at Not Arf Krap for the alleged rape in Sweden. I visited the town in the late nineties with a Saints shirt on not realising it had taken place there! Got some really strange looks!
I just hope that the boys don't let themselves down...and get caught with their pants down or worse get involved in a drunken brawl.
For all the positives I can see quite a few potential negatives. Still one thing is for sure - it will look like just another stag party on a weekend bender. At least none of them are famous (if you have a pending court case can you get a Visa?) so the locals won't try and have a pop. Pretty sure most activities will be organised or private functions.
