LEE Holmes and Jonathan Forte could be the next players to leave St Mary’s.

Defender Ryan Dickson left to join League 1 strugglers Yeovil Town at the end of last week.

And boss Nigel Adkins left Holmes and Forte as unused subs at Coventry at the weekend with a suggestion that Saints didn’t want them cup tied ahead of possible moves away.

Forte has been linked with League 1 club Walsall while Holmes has only made four sub appearances in the Championship this season.

“There’s a lot of things you have to weigh up on the scales of what’s right and what’s wrong when you do things,” admitted the Saints boss.

“Our endeavour is to ensure we give the young lads the opportunity to come through the system.

“The January window’s here and Jonathan and Lee haven’t been figuring as much.

“We have just seen Ryan Dickson go out on loan to Yeovil and we might see some activity happen with the two lads there as well.

“You have to weigh it all up and you have to win the game of football, have to give the youngsters a pathway through – there’s a lot of things that go on and I’m sure everyone’s aware of that as well.”
