NIGEL Adkins was satisfied with a point at Birmingham, but insisted his side didn’t penetrate enough.

Saints left a snow-covered St Andrew’s after fighting out a well-earned 0-0 draw that maintained their grip on second place in the Championship.

Adkins was happy enough with the result and performance, although he said his side didn’t do enough in front of goal.

“First ten minutes I thought they started well, then we changed our shape and got a hold of the game,” he said.

“We’ve passed the ball about and were totally in the ascendancy with it, although we didn’t penetrate enough and that was the big thing.

“We’ve kept the ball well but we haven’t penetrated on a difficult surface it’s fair to say.

“As the second half has gone on it was difficult for the players. Give them a little bit of credit for being out there playing.

“But the ball wasn’t running conducively and we didn’t launch it sufficiently enough to test their goalkeeper.”

Adkins also believed Danny Fox was wrongly dismissed for two bookings.

“Should it be a sending off? No,” said the Saints boss. “It’s two horrendous decisions for me.”
