NIGEL Adkins believed that “positivity abounded everywhere” during his side’s 2-0 win over Burnley.
Saints earned a vital three points at St Mary’s this afternoon to strengthen their position in the Championship’s top two.
The result came at an important time, with the club’s results having slipped in the last two months.
Saints had won just two of their previous ten league matches, but looked back to their best against the in-form Clarets.
“Positivity abounded,” said a delighted Adkins. “It was everywhere. The crowd were great, the players were superb and we’ve got a thoroughly deserved three points from a 2-0 victory.
“Another clean sheet on the back of the Birmingham one. I thought we did look very resilient.
“Kelvin’s had one long range shot and a couple of crosses he did very well with.
“There was probably a ten or 15 minute spell where we’ve had to defend, and we’ve defended very well.
“So that was very pleasing as a team, and delighted we’ve got the three points today.”
