Lee left out of Japan squad

Tadanari Lee Tadanari Lee

SAINTS striker Tadanari Lee has been left out of the Japan squad for next week’s friendly against Iceland.

Coach Alberto Zaccheroni has selected an experimental group of only J.League players for the game in Osaka on Friday.

That means Europe-based stars such as Saints’ new signing Lee have been given a rest.

Zaccheroni is instead intending to use the match as a chance to look at some of Japan’s fringe players.

However, he could still call on the likes of Lee for the 2014 World Cup qualifier against Uzbekistan, in Toyota, on Wednesday, February 29.

How Japan's decision affects Saints - see today's Daily Echo.

If we go 2 up against Derby in the Battle of the Nigels would love to see Lambert, Sharp and Lee all on at the same time. What a prospect! I'm sure our Nigel has been scratching his head trying to work out a system to put all three on at the same time. Exciting times again being a Saints supporter.

Off Subject :

Where SAINTS need to strengthen to be more formidable and also increase the depth of the Squad is Goalkeeping ...

Super Kelv - exactly that - loyal - good in the dressing room - gives his all and inspires confidence ...

8/10

Bart - has his fans and did well in JPT. Not cut the mustard in the Championship - but good stand in for Cup Games.

6/10

Tommy Forecast - deadwood and a waste of space ...

3/10

When you look at other Clubs - you soon realise this is an area that must improve ..

Kelvin needs a serious contender for that Number 1 Jersey.

RED ARMY. FIGHT FOR PREMIERSHIP GLORY.

I wonder if we should call him Chung -his preferred nickname (and part of Chung Sung, his Korean name). Nigel does and presume the rest of the squad does as as well.

Don't forget Nigel, Zulu buffalo head attack formation today - give both Lallana and Puncheon a horn.

Agree. Chung in the one! Conners is gonners. That's football, especially at the business end of the season. You don't score insix or seven matches, even as a sub, you lose your status as impact player. No one to blame but yourself. As brad pitt says in money ball, "would you rather go with a shot to the head, or six shots to the body and be left to die?" talking about cutting first team players in baseball.

Bart was superb when he first arrived, until he did his cruciate ligament.
He is still only 24 and has every chance of becoming a very good goalie, if given an extended run in the first team.

Give Bart his due, he isn't on the bench but he was there on the pitch helping KD with his match preparation and seemed to be enjoying doing it, a true squad player, one of a strong back up team.

He's not really Japanese but his parents were Koreans whose group still loyal to Japan even after both Koreans became independent from Japan at end of last world war.

That is why Adkins and some others call him Cheung which is a Korean name instead of his Japanese name - Lee is also Korean.

Maybe they would find it difficult to call him by his Japanese name cos it is harder to call - instead they use his Korean name which is very easy to call.

Bart is still a good keeper, yes he had a horrible game against Blackpool but in the cup games recently specially the two millwall games he was fantastic, so dont say he is **** if you dont even see him in the cup games...
