Arsenal and Rangers to face Southampton in Markus Liebherr Memorial Cup

Daily Echo: Arsenal and Rangers set for Markus Liebherr Memorial Cup Arsenal and Rangers set for Markus Liebherr Memorial Cup

SAINTS have confirmed they will face Arsenal and Glasgow Rangers in this season's Markus Liebherr Memorial Cup.

The annual pre-season tournament will take place at St Mary's on July 14 - the same date as the Olympic torch relay is due to pass through the stadium.

Arsenal's attendance, as previously exclusively revealed by the Daily Echo, is part of the deal that saw Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain move to the Emirates last summer.

The tournament sees the three teams compete against each other in a series of round-robin 45-minute matches, with ties decided by spot kicks.

Three points are awarded for a win, two for a victory on penalties and one for defeat in a shoot-out.

The first match, between Saints and Rangers, will kick-off at 5.15pm, with the Olympic torch due in the stadium at 6.20pm.

Arsenal v Rangers will follow at 6.45pm, with Saints and Arsenal clashing in the final fixture, at 8pm.

Well we should beat Rangers if they are still around, they wont be able to afford a bus to get here so they will all be tired from hitchhiking....with any luck by the time of kick off half off their players may still be stranded on the Great British motorways.

It would be a good chance to ask Mr Wenger if we could have Theo back on loan for a season.

He would add quality to our side, and in return, we would boost his confidence back up and finish developing him into the player he always showed the promise that he would be.

(I doubt we could get the Ox as well!!)

No we don't want players unless they are here for the long haul. Maybe Steven Davies at Glasgow Rangers. Hmmm - I wonder if that is why they have been ask to join us....

I personally hope the Gers will be around in July and visiting St Marys. I guarantee to you now they will bring more fans than the Skunts get for a home game.
Yeah. Could be another Manchester if you're lucky........

Well if you get any less of a crowd, the players will end up getting their own ball back from the terraces.

PS - I spell it that way to make it easier for you English to understand. I'm sort of a care worker in that respect........

Well if you get any less of a crowd, the players will end up getting their own ball back from the terraces.

PS - I spell it that way to make it easier for you English to understand. I'm sort of a care worker in that respect........

Your spelling really is systematic of someone who didn't attend school that much. The fact you are convinced I'm a Rangers fan merely enhances that view.

Have you thought of further education ?

PS Willie Johnston was certainly the best Rangers player in the last 50 years............to get you some "stuff"

So, call me old fashioned and slightly confused but why do you feel the need to swat up on Gers stories in England? (smells of insecurity to me)

2x2 still equals 4 world cups (at least)

Was Jos Hooiveld the happiest man in the Celtic escape committee
ps. Neil Lennon to Norwich

Yes, it's near my bed time in Australia at 1.20 am. More staying power than you SJ. You keep dreaming about the mighty GERS

Great news if this is true ? We can watch Theo and Oxo on the hallowed turf and personally Ive always had a soft spot for the gers, ever since I sat at ibrox amidst the "yellow stream". Great supporters, great club, real passion the likes of which some of us can only imagine.
If it comes off I would welcome rangers fans with open arms.
But saints to win would be ideal....we can only hope.

Aggression .. Enthusiasm and Raw Ambition ...

RED ARMY-RED ARMY-RED ARMY

We have the Top Boys in the UK

No-one will bother us at St Mary's
... Mill wall tried and ran away.
That is why Supporters and families always feel safe.

From Intel the only two clubs in the South that are aggressive to the MIGHTY SOUTHAMPTON are wet spam and Chelski. I guarantee RED ARMY will sort these two sets of Supporters next Season.

WE ARE SOUTHAMPTON and we will support our Club through thick and thin and the WINS next Season.

RED ARMY ARE NUMBER ONE IN THE UK AND THE PREMIERSHIP.

The only thing holding us back is the Quality of the football. Nigel and Nicola have done us proud - but We need to sitting at the Top of the Premiership to match the ambition of our Supporters.

We are Top Quality Supporters - we are not the first club to be promoted to the Premiership so there are many business models out there with regard to wages etc and we trust in Nicola and Nigel to deliver BIG TIME with new players - a good quality goalkeeper - and sorting out the Defence and a goal scoring midfielder so Southampton FC make a massive impact in the Premier League.

NO FEAR - NO SURRENDER

RED ARMY 2012.
WE ARE NUMBER ONE.
FIGHT AND WIN. COYR.
