Arsenal and Rangers to face Southampton in Markus Liebherr Memorial Cup

Arsenal and Rangers set for Markus Liebherr Memorial Cup Arsenal and Rangers set for Markus Liebherr Memorial Cup

SAINTS have confirmed they will face Arsenal and Glasgow Rangers in this season's Markus Liebherr Memorial Cup.

The annual pre-season tournament will take place at St Mary's on July 14 - the same date as the Olympic torch relay is due to pass through the stadium.

Arsenal's attendance, as previously exclusively revealed by the Daily Echo, is part of the deal that saw Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain move to the Emirates last summer.

The tournament sees the three teams compete against each other in a series of round-robin 45-minute matches, with ties decided by spot kicks.

Three points are awarded for a win, two for a victory on penalties and one for defeat in a shoot-out.

The first match, between Saints and Rangers, will kick-off at 5.15pm, with the Olympic torch due in the stadium at 6.20pm.

Arsenal v Rangers will follow at 6.45pm, with Saints and Arsenal clashing in the final fixture, at 8pm.

Well we should beat Rangers if they are still around, they wont be able to afford a bus to get here so they will all be tired from hitchhiking....with any luck by the time of kick off half off their players may still be stranded on the Great British motorways.

It would be a good chance to ask Mr Wenger if we could have Theo back on loan for a season.

He would add quality to our side, and in return, we would boost his confidence back up and finish developing him into the player he always showed the promise that he would be.

(I doubt we could get the Ox as well!!)

No we don't want players unless they are here for the long haul. Maybe Steven Davies at Glasgow Rangers. Hmmm - I wonder if that is why they have been ask to join us....

I personally hope the Gers will be around in July and visiting St Marys. I guarantee to you now they will bring more fans than the Skunts get for a home game.
Yeah. Could be another Manchester if you're lucky........

Well if you get any less of a crowd, the players will end up getting their own ball back from the terraces.

PS - I spell it that way to make it easier for you English to understand. I'm sort of a care worker in that respect........

2+2 = 4 world cups in a row you have missed.

Your spelling really is systematic of someone who didn't attend school that much. The fact you are convinced I'm a Rangers fan merely enhances that view.

Have you thought of further education ?

PS Willie Johnston was certainly the best Rangers player in the last 50 years............to get you some "stuff"

So, call me old fashioned and slightly confused but why do you feel the need to swat up on Gers stories in England? (smells of insecurity to me)

2x2 still equals 4 world cups (at least)

Was Jos Hooiveld the happiest man in the Celtic escape committee
ps. Neil Lennon to Norwich

If it comes off I would welcome rangers fans with open arms.
