Southampton 's two new signings are unlikely to feature in the Saints' Barclays Premier League clash with Manchester United on Sunday.

Japan defender Maya Yoshida, who captained his country at the Olympics , is back in his native country to play in the upcoming internationals.

Zambia striker Emmanuel Mayuka is also unlikely to feature after signing during the week, while former Chelsea trainee Jack Cork (ankle) remains a doubt.

Other than that manager Nigel Adkins has a strong squad to chose from.

Provisional squad: Davis, Gazzaniga, Richardson, Butterfield, Clyne, Fox, Shaw, Hooiveld, Fonte, Seabourne, Stephens, Chambers, Ward-Prowse, Do Prado, Chaplow, De Ridder, Lallana, Schneiderlin, Puncheon, Hammond, Davis, Lambert, Lee, Rodriguez, Sharp.

Saints can beat them with what they've got. Although it might be a little more tricky now that Rooney's injured.

It's not that we can't play them, we aren't desperate, we have enough players for a full bench, unlike some... Where are your big name signings today then?

Saints are pleased to confirm the signing of Uruguayan international Gastón Ramírez from Italian side Bologna.

The 21 year-old attacker is a highly-rated prospect who has been on the wishlist of several leading European outfits, with Saints seeing off top clubs in both Italy and the Barclays Premier League to land the youngster.

The deal to bring Ramírez to St Mary's was quickly agreed and processed over ten days ago with a work permit appeal being successfully granted last Friday.

Only the finer details of the transfer prevented his signing from being completed and, with those matters now taken care of, Ramírez has signed a four-year contract at St Mary's with Saints paying an undisclosed fee to Serie A side Bologna.

So now Serie A is equivalent to the Championship? I'm pretty sure if a Serie B player were to even express an interest in playing at that dump of a ground they would go mental. Must be jealous that we paid £12 million for him when we could've bought your "club" for that much. The future is bright for us lads!

Funny thing is, though Phil, we could leave them out for 4 weeks and they could still play for us without needing to sign a new contract.

Don't you wish you had some players that could do that??

I think they are unlikely to get anything from the game at Oldham Pathetic! Our next Sky game is against Manchester United on Sunday and I think their next televised league biggie is against Crawley Town. Says it all really doesn't it! WHO THE F...... IS LAUGHING NOW!!

They only had a hooligan firm because they spent 40 odd years below us in the league and developed a massive chip on their shoulder. Sad little skunts.

I have to admit I was getting a little concerned for Pompey Phyllis having not seen her posting for a while. So it brought a smile to my face to see her envious scribblings once again, knowing that she's still alive and kicking. Even bigger smile when I realised she'd been working in town. Don't you just love community service?
