International futures for Lallana and Lambert?

Ricke Lambert heads home the opener against Manchester United
ENGLAND coach Gary Neville has hinted that Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert could be considered for international callups.
National team manager Roy Hodgson was at St Mary’s yesterday, watching the duo produce impressive performances in Saints’ 3-2 defeat against Manchester United.
Neville, who was also at the game in his capacity as a pundit for Sky Sports, was asked in commentary whether Lallana could have a future in the England set-up.
“The thing about Lallana is that you want to see him at the highest level,” said Neville.
“The game against Manchester City on the first game of the season and this particular game he’s doing his chances no harm.
“I think that’s the key for him, to play at this level.
“He’s been fantastic from start to finish and any English player who’s got that level of skill and ability and who performs week in week out must be in with a chance.”
Another player the home fans are keen to see recognised by his country is Lambert, with chants of “Lambert for England” ringing round the stadium yesterday.
Ahead of the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine, Neville was asked about the 30-year-old striker too, saying: “Well, Andy Carroll pulled out, so you never know.”
Any hopes of a shock callup this week for Lambert were dashed last night, though, as it was confirmed that Hodgson would not be bringing in a replacement for the injured Carroll.
However, like Lallana, Saints’ number seven did his future chances no harm with a menacing display against United, scoring the opener and setting up his side’s second.
Nigel Adkins was certainly quick to hail his performance.
“Rickie Lambert had a superb game for us up front, his physical presence,” he said.
“He gave us that out ball from a physical point of view and scored an outstanding goal.
“Something we talked about and worked on at the training ground the last couple of days, of getting players in little pockets, areas, to put little diagonals in and Jason Puncheon put a superb cross in for Rickie to go and score.”

Why not? I can think of worse players to call up. Rickie is a good player who isn't afraid to go inwhere it hurts . Adam is a class act and a classy midfielder who derserves a chance. You'll never know what they can do if they're not picked.
Just typical of the English call up system - you have to play in supposed the top few clubs to get in - I mean; Carroll has two good games all season for Liverpool last season and gets called up for the Euros???

I could see Lambert, Lallana and Ward- Prowse all wearing England shirts one day, maybe on the same day. And just for a change we are under no obligation to have to sell them.
And if Lallana isn't in the next world cup then we truly know the lunatics have taken over the asylum.

Lambert, Lallana and Puncheon were brilliant yesterday! Lambert was scaring the United defence witless and scored with his first chance - a superb cross from Puncheon. So pleased to see Punch delivering what we know he can. Lallana's footwork was also superb. You can have 24 Ricky Lamberts for one Robin Van Persie and I know which I would rather have. RVPs penalty had me rolling in the aisles! And well done Adkins for finally picking these three to play together up front. But please stop wasting time with Guly whose first touch is hopeless - he is not up to this league.
Had to laugh when the Sky commentator gave Schneiderlin the 'curse' by saying that rarely scores!
Saints just need to fix those defensive errors or keep the attacking players on the pitch and defend from the front.

Loving this. Hodgson has very few to choose from in the medium term unless some new wonderkids emerge. Suspect he left thinking Labert and Lallana were only allowed to shine because Man Utd were playing poorly and not because the Saints were playing well. I have noticed this is a common theme amongst football pundits when a "non fashionable" club does well against one of "top" clubs.
Wellbeck played for Manure yesterday and was awful. Hardly had a touch and was subbed infront of the england manager. Lambert however scored one, one assist and caused united so many problems. Unfortunately we aren't a fashionable club which is why Holt didn't get a look in last season even though he scored more goals that every striker we took to the euros combined.
I'd love to see it but I fear Lambert wont get his chance.

I don't like that a player has more chance of getting an england cap by sitting on Man City's bench then playing well for some one else but thats the truth of it.

Meanwhile, the lamp demands to be fed at the top table. How awesome would it be to see a player score in every division and for England in the 21st century? it's the stuff of Hollywood. Rickie for england would destroy all in his way.
He'd be knackered for us, but we have so many strikers now, who could deny him the dream?
