Interesting the small print of plans by Southampton City Council to consider charging parking fees in the city in the evening.
In one version the scheme will not cover the whole of the night time trade period, but just be extended until 8pm.
In other words the new charges will not affect those arriving late in the city to while away the night in clubs and vertical drinking establishments (with a designated driver of course) but will catch theatre goers and families heading into town for an early evening meal.
