DOES Richard Williams, leader of Southampton City Council, ever read the Daily Echo?
After seeing the headlines on Friday, January 25, how can he, and all the others who are backing the idea, even think about having a huge casino on the waterfront?
All it would bring is a lot more heartache and debt to struggling families who think they might win some money.
While writing, what is the point of building more shops in the new Watermark project, when shops are closing down all around the city – HMV, Comet, Jessops, probably the white elephant of the Bargate Centre, to name a few. What are they going to be, charity shops?
It’s about time the powers that be listened to the people and do what they would like.
As for saying that 90 per cent of 1,000 people questioned wanted the Watermark Centre, what a load of rubbish, because I don’t know anyone that does.
Mrs B BROWN, Shirley, Southampton.
