IN reply to Mrs B Brown “They should start listening to public”
(Letters, February 4), I whole heartedly agree and believe that Southampton City Council leaders should read the Daily Echo and take into account what the people of the city want, and not what gives them the most money.
There is very little demand in the city for a super-casino, only from the councillors and developers.
I also agree with Mrs Brown with regards to the Watermark development site and I too, think it is a waste of time. The actual figures quoted are that 1,000 people viewed the proposed Watermark plans, of which 160 feedback forms were handed out, of which 91 per cent of the 160 voted in favour of it, which actually comes out at 146. So, out of the 1,000 people that viewed the plans only 146 voted in favour of it or 14.6 per cent.
Personally, I think a multipurpose concert arena/ice rink would be of better use to the city because they can draw people in from other towns and cities and can be used by everyone.
ALASTAIR PEARCE, Southampton.
