Buses are the issue

OVER £100 million will have been spent to build the new shopping village in Whiteley with shops opening until 8pm most evenings.

Having checked with First Bus and Hampshire County Council, there are no plans to increase the bus service to the village.

Only seven buses per day operate currently, with the first bus arriving two hours before the shops open and the second ariving an hour after they open.

The situation is even worse in the evening with the last bus leaving two hours before the shops close.

Retail staff aren’t the best paid and many of them rely on public transport to get to and from work.

Hasn’t any thought gone into this?

This shopping centre may well go the way of the last, which was demolished because of lack of footfall to it.

I would have thought that the retailers should be concerned that their staff will not be able to get to them or indeed home from them.
