WHEN reading my Daily Echo, I only got to page 6, then there it is again. Another day, another petition. Is Hamble becoming the petition capital of the south?
They’ve got a petition for gravel pits, one for badly needed homes along Hamble Lane, now the local pub becoming a nursing home. But like Woolston, Hedge End and Netley, homes are needed, and as local communities grow, so the need for more building, which would create more local jobs.
There is no use objecting and petitioning for every change and strangely I did not see any full page objections/petitions against the renewed upgrade of the boating marina in Hamble. But I suspect Hamble residents have more rights to pick and choose what developments are permitted than in any other neighbourhoods nearby.
MR A. HOUGHTON, Southampton.
