INCREDIBLY, Labour, without even blinking, is trying to take full credit for Oaklands pool reopening (Daily Echo, October 10).
Once again recognition has shamefully and dishonourably been denied by this Labour administration – the same group of councillors who forced the pool to close in the first place.
The success of the save our pool campaign was spearheaded by local residents, pool staff, pool users, swimming groups, trade unions, and let’s not forget the Daily Echo, keeping the campaign in the public eye.
If it wasn’t for the campaign the building would have been demolished long ago, it was only the hard work of all of the above that forced Labour to rethink.
Now we need to get the pool open as soon as possible.
COUNCILLOR DON THOMAS, Councillors Against Cuts.
