I AGREE with the thoughts of Mr J C Martin of Hedge End (‘Plan delays smack of council arrogance’, Letters, October 4).

I recently wrote to my ward councillor regarding the now defunct local plan asking what was the cost of producing this plan from the two glossy brochures and 12 exhibitions throughout the borough during November 2011, the expense of the planning officers and the staff time to compile and type the document.

His reply did nothing to answer my questions and blamed Hampshire County Council for the whole fiasco.

It seems the Eastleigh Borough Council jumped the gun with regard to Hampshire County Council releasing building land they own.

I therefore maintain that the total waste of taxpayers’ money over the last two years should be borne by the 30 councillors who voted to adopt the plan at a meeting of Eastleigh Borough Council in October, 2011.

If Eastleigh Borough Council can be so reckless about spending our money, the Lib-Dem Eastleigh Voice newspaper with the headline ‘A Shocking Waste Of Our Money’ is correct. Over to you.

P S FORD, Eastleigh.
