“THE high cost of a fluoride court battle” (Daily Echo, January 10). I am disturbed to read the ridiculous comment made this morning!

Yes true, a court case to stop the addition of fluoride to our tap water will be expensive, BUT the Daily Echo’s suggestion that the sensible way forward would be to hold a final referendum on the subject is in my opinion absolutely ridiculous.

If anyone can believe that Public Health England would take any notice of the result of a referendum, then I urge you to think again!

I believe that the PHE has had enough time and ample ability to observe the history of this case and it is evident to me by their lingering conspicuous silence that they will continue to ignore any negative pubic opinion on this subject at all costs, as have the defunct Strategic Health Authority in the past.

I believe this issue should be taken to the courts and settled once and for all, because I believe the public are not going to see justice by any other means.
