YESTERDAY when we came back from shopping, we parked in my dad’s cul-de-sac on a lowered kerb, as he is 88 and can’t walk well, and then found at the back two policemen in their car saying we couldn’t park there, it’s against the law. They were very officious and not very nice.

I can accept the Highway Code, but does it really have be so religiously and zealously applied when it’s a road with 18 houses?

Three police for five minutes parked on a dropped kerb.

We went to the Mayflower last night – the show was very good, but it was too hot and we all fell ill. However, thanks to the Daily Echo I knew parking charges at night had started.

My son and I thought it poor how the charges appear on the machines. It was dark and raining heavily. Who is going to look there?

So, thanks to the Echo we weren’t caught out, but I can imagine some will be.
