GOOD old council bosses, always ready for a joke and a good laugh!
Do they seriously think that Southampton could be a contender for European prize money?
As your picture in the Daily Echo of March 22 suggests, our Civic Centre building, with its nowbattered clock tower and partly cleaned and restored stonework, should really prove a hit.
Add to this the everlasting city roadworks and the dismally poor access for anyone interested in viewing the ships that visit the port of Southampton, and this entire challenge sounds like an early April Fool.
May I suggest that the council considers SPENDING £4m on needy areas of the city before giving any thought to such a preposterous scheme as this.
