I CALLED into the Giddy Bridge bar in London Road, Southampton to meet a group of friends. A barmaid called to our table and there was a bit of good-humoured banter.
I left my friends, but over an hour later realised that I had lost some cash and retraced my steps.
I went back into the bar and met the same barmaid, Jenny, and explained where I had been sitting and how much I had lost. Imagine my shock and pleasant surprise when she handed me over the bank notes.
She said she had found them where I had been sitting after I had left the pub. I had held out no real prospect of finding the money, particularly as it was not in a wallet.
I would like to publicly thank Jenny for her honesty and Wetherspoons for having the foresight to employ such decent, pleasant and honourable staff.
