TORY Boris Johnson has just announced that he intends to stand as a candidate in next year’s General Election.
However, he has been quoted as saying that he would never do this whilst still the Mayor of London.
Perhaps the way to get round this is for him to complete his term of office in May 2016, and then stand in the first winnable by-election that occurs.
Most Conservatives will be happy with this scenario, apart, of course, from David Cameron, who will not welcome the possible challenge to his leadership.
