I FEEL it is necessary to put a word in for the men and women who are by court order having to carry out community payback.
These are offenders who have to carry out unpaid work. I do not look for praise for these persons as it is the punishment handed down to them by a court of law.
I do feel strongly that they are not mentioned when helping to clean their local shorelines and beaches.
It is also a known fact that when these offenders clean and tidy local churches and cemeteries, cutting grass and weeding, litter picking, the wearing of a high-vis jacket is not allowed.
Is this so that the local councils can take the credit for this?
These people on community payback are there because they have been ordered to.
But what a difference they make.
No wonder the council are making cuts, they don’t have to pay people to do these jobs any more – only the organisations responsible.
