OUR Merchant Navy Day service will be held on Sunday at Holyrood Church, Southampton at 12 noon, this being the nearest Sunday to Merchant Navy Day which was on September 3.
We hope families and shipmates who have lost relatives at sea in war and peace will take the the opportunity to join us in our service of commemoration at our Merchant Navy Memorial Church.
This year the service will be lead by our new chaplain John Attenborough.
In attendance will be the Mayor of Southampton and her consort, the Southampton and Natley Royal British Legions, the Royal Naval Association, the Master Mariners, other branches of the Merchant Navy Association, the Southampton Sea Cadets and other sea organisations and councillors.
As in previous years the service will still proceed regardless of the weather.
