WHATEVER the result of the referendum, David Cameron should resign for incompetence and for allowing himself to be completely out-manoeuvred by Alex Salmond.
In granting a referendum over a matter of so much importance to the whole United Kingdom, he should have insisted on a two-thirds majority and should not have allowed Salmond to rig the result by including 16-year-olds who were most likely to vote “yes” and excluding non-resident Scots who were most likely to vote “no”.
In a desperate attempt to secure a “no” vote he has been obliged to make promises of further concessions to Scotland that are disadvantageous to England.
