DO speed bumps improve safety and reduce a driver’s speed?
Not on South East Road. A quick observation this week showed that most drivers were able to straddle the “cushion”
without having to slow down.
Remember, the Council has spent a large amount of money on these.
The only ones having to slow were motorcyclists and cyclists who had to change their line as a result. What an absolute waste of money.
Secondly can people please not use hot water to clear frosty windscreens – for two reasons.
One is that you may damage your windscreen (and cause microfractures from the quick temperature change leading to poor visibility). The second is that the water you’ve thrown then becomes an icy puddle on the ground ready to trap motorcyclists and cyclists.
Instead, use an old sheet to cover the window.
Warm the engine a little when getting in and then take the sheet off when ready to set off.
