I COMMEND The Campaign for an English Parliament (Letters, March 6) in their efforts to put pressure on the Government for justice, fairness and equality for English citizens.

Unfortunately they have to deal with career politicians whose agendas are about personal gain and achievement and little to do with the interests of the electorate (except at election times).

Our politicians constantly tell us what they think is best for us - or is it best for them?

It is this mind set that has brought the UK to almost complete membership of the European Union and the EU's determination to wipe Britain off the maps and replace it with a number of regional authorities directly answerable to Brussels.

The latest revelation is that Hampshire with other English coastal countries is joined with the Trans - or is it Arc? - Manche region coupled with the regions of Brittany, Nord-Pas de Calais, Lower and Upper Normandy and Picardy - supposedly to strengthen trade links and boost the local economy on issues relevant to the south coast!

Through our association with the corrupt EU, council tax will continue to rise, more post offices will be closed, wheelie bins will be bugged, car mileage will be monitored in order to impose a mileage tax and inspectors will forcibly enter your home to determine if improvements have been carried out warranting additional council tax. And there will be many more ridiculous rules and regulations.

Justice, fairness and equality are bywords of another age! They might return if the UK voters wake up before it is too late and reject the regular politicians who claim to be acting in our best interests.

Interestingly, Messrs Cameron and Hague have recently been quoting from the UKIP manifesto on a number of issues so perhaps our message is at last percolating - hope springs eternal!

COLIN CAIN, UKIP Southampton.
