Confused by debt
WE read endlessly about the national debt and the deficit.
Please would someone explain what it means.
To whom do we owe all this money? What is the effect in practical terms? Does it mean fewer nurses, doctors, teachers? What would happen if we never paid it back? I fail entirely to understand it. Help!
