I WAS most interested to read the article entitled “Eastleigh is the Friendliest Place”.

I write to tell you how “friendly” some people are in this town.

On March 25 my husband and I did some shopping in Sainsbury’s and amongst the items we purchased was a large joint of beef costing £13.60. This we would cut into three pieces which would give us three Sunday roasts.

We put this joint in a separate bag as it was heavy.

Unfortunately when we got to our car we realised we had not picked up the bag containing this joint.

My husband rushed back to Sainsbury’s but they had no idea what had happened to it.

I know – someone had obviously stolen it! When I arrived home I phoned and asked to speak to customer services in case the thief had had a change of heart but she was busy and would phone me back I was told.

Two hours later, having heard nothing, I phoned again and was told by customer services basically that it had gone.

I have since been told that we could have asked Sainsbury’s to look at their CCTV to see what happened but nobody at Sainsbury’s suggested this. Does anyone call this “friendly”? I think not!

I hope someone enjoys my next three Sunday dinners!
