Tony Blair describes the recent referendum for Scottish independence as being a ‘near death experience’ for the UK.
If Mr Blair had had his way whilst being PM the UK would now be using the Euro as its currency.
Thankfully, Gordon Brown and particularly Ed Balls resisted currency union with the EU. If Mr Blair had succeeded in taking Britain into the Euro the outcome of the Scottish Independence Referendum may well have been different.
Scottish voters would probably have had less concern about what currency an Independent Scotland would use because Scotland and the rest of the UK would have already been an established Eurozone member.
Now Mr Blair returns from the dead himself to preach the merits of European Union membership which is a bit rich.
