WITH reference to the article on the Bittern pub, published on Friday, April 10.
Having read traffic engineer Allan Mendelsohn’s scathing comments about how busy Thornhill Park Road was, it is a shame he was not with me on that morning trying to get out of Upper Deacon Road onto Thornhill Park Road.
The pub was closed at the time, but with the traffic trying to visit and leave the Tesco store situated on the brow of the hill, was that a sensible planning decision?
And the impatience of some drivers – it amazed me an accident did not occur.
A McDonald’s store is only going to put more traffic onto an overused junction.
Added to that, does Hedge End, not have a problem with antisocial driving?
If anyone has ever been in that area around 9pm onwards, they would realise that a lot of that problem is centred around the McDonald’s there.
If the Bittern has to be replaced, why cannot more sensible planning be considered?
