COLD callers – how I agree with councillor Don Thomas and there must be a lot of other people they really annoy.

We are ex-directory and are getting up to four nuisance calls a day – sometimes the same people from previous days, having had a negative response and someone else from the same company trying again.

They sometimes ask for you by your first name and appearing to be very friendly which annoys you even further, and call at inconvenient times – lunchtime, teatime, when washing up or in the shower.

I have to answer them in the day.

Having a disabled daughter, it may be important. I’ve had them up to 8.00pm and if you dial 1471 you know a lot of them are the same number.

Some calls I put down before they speak as there is often a pause when you pick up the phone. I just get annoyed but I can see how older people on their own could get worried or upset.

They should be stopped.
