RICHARD Grant’s recent letter (26/9) describing Vince Cable as a ‘pain’ for the Liberal Democrats clearly demonstrates that the major liability for my party is Richard Grant himself.
I am a long serving Lib Dem activist, councillor for 30 years and dedicated leaflet deliverer.
There a number of activists like me. Richard Grant is not one of them. He writes appalling letters instead.
His latest missive berates Vince Cable for promoting a Mansion Tax on £1m or £2m properties and then, unbelievably, blames this on the Lib Dem election losses.
Can anyone imagine legions of million pound house owners and those looking to join them (likely to be Tories anyway) marching to the polls thereby creating a political earthquake? It is just nuts.
Therefore by all means tolerate Mr Grant but please please don’t confuse him for a Liberal Democrat representative.
