I, LIKE many, visit Winchester for work, tourism or many other reasons.
The people of Winchester, be it the Big Issue seller by Sainbury’s, who sells with a smile and pleasant greeting, the shop and market stall holders who ply their trade with politeness and professionalism, to all who make Winchester a welcoming place.
What shopkeepers must remember is the market was there before even some shop brand names began trading, since 1200 – both sides can work together to resolve and issues and welcome visitors in many ways.
My friends from many placse across the UK and the world admire Winchester, its rich history and more.
But I have one concern: empty shops and buildings. These must be filled soon and planning projects moved on, for example Silver Hill, to project Winchester’s values, but also to help Winchester evolve.
Well done all in Winchester, who make a uniquely lovely place!
